Guy Laroche’s sire is FEI level trained dressage winner Michelangelo, sire of many approved stallions in Germany and in the Netherlands, where he was one of the most popular stallions also in the Dutch Warmblood breed. Michelangelo’s sire is legendary Thoroughbred Pasteur xx. (‘Selected Stallions of Germany’: “He founded his own stallion line, which at this time in the Trakehner breed is important as no other one.”) Pasteur xx is best known as sire of Mahagoni, one of the leading dressage horse producers in the world, among his offspring Olympic dressage medalist, ATA stallion Peron. Michelangelo’s dam is ‘Elite’, State Premium and Verband Premium mare Miami, according to ‘Selected Stallions of Germany’ “one of the famous show mares of the Trakehner breed” as Reserve Grand Champion of the German National Trakehner Show and of the German National Riding Horse Show and Grand Champion of the Trakehner State Championships Rhineland. She also produced Verband approved sires Miami Vice and Monteverdi. Brad Kerbs used her as example of a perfect conformation in a lecture on grading at the ATA AGM. Her dam line Mira 281 (from Trakehnen’s last director Ehlert) delivered among others approval champion Morgenglanz, Reserve Champion Mozart and Dutch star stallion Marco Polo, sire of world famous jumpers like Irco Polo and grandsire of legendary Milton. Guy Laroche’s dam is ‘Elite’, ‘State Premium’ and ‘Verband Premium’ mare Galante V, one of Germany’s leading show mares at national level. She is a daughter of beloved Lucado, the arguably most beautiful son of Abdullah-sire Donauwind). She comes from the mare family O326 Gundula of the prestigeous Poll Stud Farm Hoerem. Approved stallions of the Gundula family include Gipsy King, Reserve Champion Guter Planet, Champion Guter Stern, Ginster, Gunnar, Grandioso and Grafenstolz (all Verband) and ATA stallion Gideon. German National Champions at Neumuenster were the mares Gute Sitte and Gute Welt. Galante herself was winner at the National Trakehner Show Verden 89 and produced 3 State Premium mares. One of them, Grazie, gave birth to Gipsy King, Reserve Champion of the Stallion Performance Test Warendorf 93, also standing at stud in Moritzburg in 2003. Guy Laroche is approved and ‘first class’ performance tested for Trakehner Verband and the Warmblood Breed Associations of Rhineland, Rhineland-Palatinate, Hesse, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Bavaria, Saxonia, Thuringia and by the Luxembourg Warmblood Association. At the National Trakehner approval Neumuenster 1991 he received Ic Premium (3rd place) and sold at the stallion auction sale for the third highest price at DM 95.000, (then equaling about Can. $ 85.000), behind the Champion, his halfbrother Kennedy from the same famous breeder’s barn (Heinen-Boenninghardt Stud, who bred also Kronjuwel), selling for the never reached again record price of DM 401 000, and the Reserve Champion, future‘Stallion of the Year’ and ‘Elite Stallion’ Sixtus (DM 190 000).
